Stilo

The Stilo WRC 8860 DES Rally helmet is the first open faced helmet to have passed the incredibly tough FIA 8860-2004 Approval, this standard was originally set for Formula 1 but is now required in all FIA World Championships and will be followed by many other formulas. The helmet is made from moulded autoclaved Carbon Fibre and unlike the other helmets in the Stilo range, the 8860 versions are manufactured completely from Carbon for higher strength and lighter weight. This helmet is fitted with Stilo's removable, noise attenuating earmuffs (without speakers - not permitted in circuit events), a magnetic-dynamic noise cancelling microphone and a fully integrated radio plug.

These WRC DES helmets are also fitted with a new easily adjustable microphone holder. All it takes to change the position of the microphone is to remove the holder padding and to insert spacers that move the microphone 5mm, 10mm or 15mm closer to your mouth. They have an integrated headset connection plug, which is positioned away from the HANS® posts to improve the jack connection to the radio on this the Circuit version. The earmuffs on the Circuit version ensure a noise free environment, but don't include speakers, as they are not permittted in Circuit cars. The pressure points on the head can be adjusted by replacing the special foam rubber pads placed between the earmuffs and the helmet. Also fitted with Stilo's EPS cheekpads, it's the only helmet on the market, fitted both with earmuffs and EPS (expandable polystyrene) cheekpads. Stilo’s experience gained from the ST4 (first helmet in the world to be F1 certified with earmuffs) has been carried over to the WRC DES and the use of EPS cheekpads ensures better protection in case of lateral impacts. The helmet is finished off with an adjustable Carbon peak, which can be raised or lowered to give the driver clearer visibility even when the sun is on the horizon. The helmet is produced in two shell sizes, the smaller one for the x-small, small and medium sizes and a larger shell for the large and x-large models. The helmets weigh 1350g±30g and 1400g±30g respectively.
